Products and variants are managed in your Shopify store. New products and updates to existing items download during the overnight sync and can be viewed in Inventory Planner’s variant catalog, where a sync can also be triggered on demand. Learn more about the variant catalog here.

All inventory-tracked items are synced, including those in the “Draft” and “Archived” statuses, although archived products are excluded from forecasting and purchasing workflows.

Determining whether variants can be ordered

Inventory Planner considers several factors to determine if a variant is replenishable. Replenishable items are visible in the Forecast and Purchase screens and can be added to purchase orders.

For a variant to be considered replenishable, it must:

  • Be inventory tracked (items where the inventory quantity is not tracked in Shopify are not visible to Inventory Planner)

  • Have a status of “Active” or “Draft”

  • Not be “Discontinued”

  • Not be “Dropship only”

Note that a variant does not have to be published to be added to a purchase order.
